Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered is REAL, and its here!!

It’s still hard to believe, but The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is officially getting a remaster—and yes, it’s actually real this time. I didn’t believe it at first. Honestly, I didn’t want to believe it. Just a month ago, I had started my very first playthrough of Oblivion, diving in blind and documenting the whole thing on YouTube. Then suddenly, the rumors started to pile up, and next thing I knew, the internet was ablaze with speculation. Every day brought something new: a “leak,” a supposed release window, or an insider claiming to have the scoop. But despite all the noise, it still felt like a long shot. After all, the internet has a pretty good track record of getting our hopes up just to crush them in spectacular fashion.

The real tipping point was the leaked screenshots. When those hit the scene, it finally felt like this might be more than just wishful thinking. But even then, I held back from fully buying in. Maybe it was denial, or maybe it was just that gamer instinct to protect your heart after too many fake-outs. And then—Bethesda pulled the trigger. Not with a full trailer, not yet, but with one of those cryptic, dramatic “major announcement incoming” teases. You know the type: the same kind of vague hype post your cousin’s local garage band uses every time they land a new bar gig. But this time, it actually meant something. The announcement landed, and it was real. Oblivion Remastered is happening, and it's coming soon.

Once I saw this had legs, I made a tough call: I stopped my current playthrough. As much fun as I was having—and trust me, it was fun—the idea of continuing a YouTube series on the original game when a remaster was about to steal the spotlight felt like bad timing. So here’s the plan: I’m going to play the remaster up to the point I left off, which is around the 2–3 hour mark. Then, in true cinematic fashion, I’ll “transition” my content into the remastered world, picking up where I left off—but with the polish, power, and potential of the new edition.

There’s a lot of chatter about what’s changing. We know the graphics are getting a serious overhaul, which is expected. But there are whispers about a revised skill system, possibly new UI tweaks, and even talk of re-recorded voice acting. Personally, I don’t buy that last one. I just came off my first few hours with the original game, and honestly? The voice acting holds up better than people give it credit for. It’s quirky, sure, but it’s part of Oblivion’s charm. I’d be happy if they just cleaned up the audio quality and left the performances intact.

So yes, it's real—and I'm thrilled. This is the kind of moment that makes being a fan worth it. A classic reborn, a new adventure just ahead, and a fresh wave of content coming your way soon. I hope you're as excited as I am, because this next chapter is going to be something special.
